The parallels between Emma and “me” hit home. Thanks for such a raw piece that hits a chord of truth that, like you said, isn’t welcome within the walls at church.

Melinda, I listened to every word as I ate my breakfast today. Thank you so much. It all feels so familiar. Apparently this is just what humans do, no matter our religion. ❤️‍🩹

"You don’t talk about this level of faith crisis when you are going through it; you fix it and move on, and then you can share it as a faith-strengthening experience to build others up. " This was my favorite quote because it is SO TRUE. I was just thinking about this the other day.

Thanks to all for your beautiful and heartfelt contributions.

Melinda, I am amazed at the parallels. Amazed. Your story was particularly helpful to me as 8 years since my son’s leaving the Mormons he and his wife are divorcing. When he was in faith crisis I was an active believer so I largely get the pain she has felt but you’ve given me an added layer of understanding. Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability.

Wow, Melinda, what an amazing, difficult story. Thank you for writing it, that must have been hard but also healing I hope.
