Editorial Guidelines
Say More is a Substack publication of the At Last She Said It project. Our goal is to amplify a diversity of Latter-day Saint women’s voices and experiences at the intersection of our faith, church, family, and personal lives. We want to support all women, with the understanding that though we may share many things in common, each journey is an individual one.
Submissions should be centered in personal experience and may be a variety of genres and formats: poetry, personal essays, short reflections, book reviews, voicemails, and emails are welcome. If you have an idea but are unsure whether it will be a good fit, feel free to query. Otherwise, submit the completed piece for consideration.
Please submit each piece separately (one per email).
Please aim for a word length of 500-2000 words, keeping in mind that for online pieces, shorter is almost always better. The majority of readers will engage with our content on handheld devices.
Voicemail submissions are welcome through the link on our website and are limited to 90 seconds or less.
Our default will be to publish using your first name only, but we will publish anonymously or under your full name, at your request. Please specify your preference each time you submit.
We’re looking for writers who may be willing to contribute on an ongoing basis, as well as one-time submissions.
We’ll be using Substack’s paid-subscription model for Say More. Free subscribers will receive the ALSSI newsletter with selected highlights from Say More, but a paid subscription will be required to access most content. Â
Contributors retain all rights to their work, and will receive a free subscription. At present we are unable to offer additional compensation, but appreciate your willingness to share in support of the At Last She Said It community!

A Few Suggested Topics
One of the goals of our podcast is to invite Latter-day Saint women to think about old ideas in new ways. The editorial slant of our podcast conversations leans toward women who are still engaged in the Church, because we’re aiming to create space within the culture and organization. However, for this publication we’ll consider anything ALSSI listeners think may be of value to the women in our community. Remember, if you’re thinking about it, chances are good some other women are too! We believe helping all members understand the diversity of experience that exists within our church is critical to expanding the tent and increasing belonging.
To get you thinking, here are a few possible topics you might consider:
