My favorite part of this article is where you said that you’ve made zero change in the institution but 100% change in your personal life. Getting to the point where realizing and accepting that this is the most important change is still something I’m working on.
This really resonates with my personal experience as well. After two years of attending (and kicking up dust) as a transfeminine member, I saw the local ward members make some small forward progress and then the institution make a large step backwards (in the August 2024 Handbook update). I refocused on making personal changes and began attending a non-LDS congregation that is totally affirming and accepting. It has made a world of difference in my life.
This was such a heavy burden for me to see! When little changes are made amongst the local members but the institution has the power over the local wards, the work is exhausting 😩
This article is fantastic. Thank you for being one of the best dust raisers! Even if you haven’t changed the ward or church (yet) you have changed minds and hearts!
Brilliant! Perfect analogy- and I wrote my final paper of my college career on the effective use of analogy, so I know a good one when I see it!
This is just so, so good.
thanks brenna!

I do think it is possible to make teeny weeny changes at the local level, but yea, no guarantee there either! I am proof! -C

I am so glad you found an affirming congregation. ~C

So grateful for all the dust you’ve kicked up! Loved this😊
Love this! It speaks volumes of what is needed and how women need more of a role in leadership within the church.
May the men in charge agree with you! Until then, I'll be doing my own thing. ~C

Thanks Terri! Sometimes it’s right to speak up, and sometimes it’s not!
And “the wisdom to know the difference”!😉
