It’s a scriptural example of a woman who took a big risk, and received exactly what she was seeking in return. Sometimes getting what we need may require us to make choices that are at odds with what others deem acceptable or appropriate.

When I took Latin I learned that virtus (the origin word for virtue) generally described the attributes of manly excellence: honor, courage, honesty, integrity. So I’ve chosen to understand virtue as those things.
Good women had “pudicitia,” modesty and chastity, which had many of the same toxic connotations as we foist those and “virtue” on religious women now. So I’ll take courage and valor instead.
