Sometimes in order to get what we need, we have to make choices that may be at odds with what others deem acceptable or appropriate. In this episode, Cynthia and Susan discuss the scriptural story of a woman who took a big risk, and received exactly what she was seeking in return.

Ladies, thank you for this episode! There is much here that I’ve found inspiring and motivating to continue my active search for What I Need.

I *loved* this episode so much! I love the idea of taking the woman with the issue of blood as an example for women (and members in general, but women in particular for sure) to grab hold of what they need out of their church experience. What a wonderful inspiration to take!
And Cynthia, I especially love that after all your considering, you used this story as inspiration to teach the idea that virtue is strength to your YW, and that one of them later echoed this framing of the idea in her talk. Well done!
Also, in case y’all are interested, here’s a little tidbit I can tell you on temple rules on YW (or women) doing baptisms while on their period. Back in 2012, some bloggers at Feminist Mormon Housewives ran into this question, so some of them called 68 different temples, and found that most (43) did not enforce such a rule, but the 19 did in some form. (The remaining six were closed for renovation at the time of the call.) A reporter at the Salt Lake Tribune picked up the story and reached out to a Church spokesperson, who said temples should not be enforcing this type of restriction.
