I often say that nothing good happens in January except my birthday. (I turn the big 5-0 on January 14th. Yikes!) It’s cold, it’s dark, the holidays are over and I can’t seem to get off the Struggle Bus. As a recovering overachiever, okay I am not recovering very well, I am actively trying to engage in things that make me happy in January. Let’s call them anti-goals. Working less is actually on that list. Reading more with my phone on “do not disturb” is on the list. Scheduling friend time is on that list as well. As I am writing this, the snow is falling but I still kept a lunch date with my dear friend Kelly. (I say ‘kept’ because I don’t love driving in the snow.) We sat in a local greasy diner, eating fries and too much caffeinated diet soda for it being late afternoon, laughing at each other’s holiday stories. So today was a nice reprieve from the constant ride on the January Struggle Bus.
