SH: Hi friends, Susan here with a quick message. We’re about to head into the giving season, and we’re so grateful for all of you who support this project. For the next few weeks, you’ll be hearing from members of the At Last She Said It team asking for your continued support. Our costs have continued to go up as Cynthia and I have needed more help.

Whether it’s through a paid subscription to our Substack or a tax-deductible contribution, we hope you’ll keep us in mind when considering end-of-year donations this year. As always, our goal is to keep the mics on and keep the conversations ad-free. Thanks for listening.

CW: Hello, I’m Cynthia Winward.

SH: And I’m Susan Hinckley.

CW: And this is At Last She Said It. We are women of faith discussing complicated things, and the title of today’s episode is “What About Heaven?” So why are we having an episode called “What About Heaven?” Susan?

SH: I don’t know. I wonder if any of our listeners are wondering about that, or if they’re like, “Of course, about time you guys got around to talking about this.” I don’t know.

CW: Maybe.

SH: Yeah. It feels kind of like a no-brainer to me. Okay. Well, that’s a good place, that’s a good way in, actually, because just for grins, when I sat down to work on the notes for this episode, I asked Google which Christian denomination focuses most on heaven. I did not want the answer that I got, Cynthia.

Do not ask a question to which you do not want to know the answer.

CW: Uh oh.

SH: Oh. Here you go. This means that my hunch, the thing behind the question, was actually right. It said, “Most mainstream Christian denominations share a foundational belief in heaven as the ultimate eternal destination for believers, meaning no single traditional group holds a monopoly on the concept.

However, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stands out for having a uniquely elaborate, tiered, structural focus on heaven divided into distinct celestial, terrestrial, and telestial kingdoms.”
