Listen to Episode 276

CW: You said something a minute ago that rings really true to me. You talked about the next stop. I’m just picturing a bus, Susan, and a bus pulls up to a stop, and a person gets on, and then it continues on, and then you get off at the next stop, and then you wait for a new bus or whatev- Do you know what I mean?

Like, there’s something really resonant because a minute ago I accidentally said and then corrected myself, like, to where I’ve arrived or where I’ve gotten-

SH: Right ... right.

CW: or what, you know? And I’m not. I have not arrived. But I love the idea that for the last year, you and I were studying through the Center for Action and Contemplation and we were on the bus for a whole year.

SH: Yes.

CW: And the bus just stopped, and you and I have gotten off, and we’re taking other connecting buses elsewhere. So I love the idea of it just being another stop along the way- ... on this journey. That’s more resonant than “arrived.”

Hello, I’m Cynthia Winward.

SH: And I’m Susan Hinkley.

CW: And this is At Last She Said It. We are women of faith discussing complicated things, and the title of today’s episode is Getting Honest With Susan and Cynthia. Hey, Susan.

SH: Hello. I’m kind of happy to be having a conversation with just us today.

CW: Yeah.

SH: I love our guests, and also, sometimes I miss our conversations.

CW: Yes. But why “Getting Honest?” Because you and I were having a ravenous text session a couple of weeks ago, and I said, “That’s it, Susan. We’re having an episode called Getting Honest.” So why don’t you just introduce the topic today?
