EH: I’m not falling for it. I’m not going along with that, so I’m gonna call out the BS when I see it. And I continued to do that, especially into Young Women’s where everything was focused on marriage and children. And I would say, I would make that correction when someone was saying, “When you get married, when you have kids,” and I would say “if, if, if” and I would say it-
CW: Nice
EH: -pretty much every time. And I knew at that point, I knew I was a thorn in their side. I knew that they got what I was trying to say. I also knew that I wasn’t trying to be mean, but I was still trying to say, “No, but you’re forgetting about me.”
CW: Hello, I’m Cynthia Winward.
SH: And I’m Susan Hinkley.
CW: And this is At Last She Said It. We are women of faith discussing complicated things, and the title of today’s episode is What Do You Say? Three Conversations About Pearls Before Swine, Identity, and Rebellion.
SH: I love these wide-ranging conversations, Cynthia. They’re so fun.
CW: Me too. I’m excited. This is our first What Do You Say of Season 12. We’ll have a handful of these episodes throughout the season, but why don’t you go ahead and tell some of our new listeners what is this franchise that we have of What Do You Say.
SH: Okay. Whether you never knew, or you forgot, or you already know, I will just tell you fast that What Do You Say is our At Last She Said It card game, which we stole the idea from the NPR Wildcard Podcast. So if you’re a fan of that, then you’ll know exactly what we’re doing. If you’re not, maybe you should be. Cynthia turned me onto it, and it’s great. But this is a game where we ask women questions from three categories: memories, insights, and beliefs, and they answer the question. And there are a few rules-you can turn the question back on the person who asks it, or you can pass on a question if you want to. I think we actually did have someone pass on a question-
CW: Yes-
SH: -in this episode.
CW: -we do.
SH: So you can do that. And we also played this game at our live event over the summer, and it was so good. It was so much fun.
