On a list of sensitive topics for Latter-day Saints, this one sits very near the top. Susan and Cynthia take a deep breath, and have an honest, heartfelt discussion about the complicated feelings some women may have about the temple.

Just started listening to your podcast. It resonates in so many ways. I was a little surprised in this episode that you didn’t touch on the doctrinal implications about women in the endowment. The gender inequality, Eve’s disappearance and eternal curse, the face veiling, etc. are all issues that have caused years of pain. I certainly appreciated your perspectives and it did provoke new thoughts for me. My problem with the temple seem to be fundamental doctrinal points that I do not agree with.

This was the first episode I listened to, and it wasn’t what I expected. The personal difficulties shared, could be rectified with policy changes regarding non-doctrinal issues. I’m surprised the feelings expressed were labeled the “big issue,” when I feel so many bigger issues weren’t addressed. I know there are two more episodes, so perhaps more is addressed there.

Thank you for doing this podcast. I had a moment where I wished I could be part of the conversation and tell you right away! You can go and just sit in the Celestial Room!!! I’ve done it. I’ve known other women who’ve done it. Someone else may have already told you by now since this is an early episode. . . but just in case no one has told you: you can go and sit in the Celestial Room to contemplate, find emotional rest, etc.
